105 women go missing everyday in Maharashtra, most land up in forced prostitution: NCRB data



As many as 105 women go missing every day and 17 get trafficked every week in Maharashtra, according to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2019.
Nationally, the state records the highest human trafficking and missing women cases, followed by Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal.

Of the 989 victims of trafficking, 88% were women and 6% were children. People were trafficked for various reasons such as bonded labour, organ trafficking, drug peddling, sexual exploitation, forced marriages etc. In case of Maharashtra, the reason for 95.6% of the trafficking was sexual exploitation through forced prostitution, data showed.
Moreover, instances of women going missing in 2019 versus 2018 has increased by 13%. The state was not even in the list of top 10 states recording the highest number of missing children in 2018, but is now in the fourth rank nationally for registering 4,562 children missing. Of them, 55% were girls.

Corruption, violation of Human Rights

 Over 900 million people–one in four–across the 16 nations in the Asia Pacific region paid a bribe in the past year when trying to access basic services like education or healthcare. Among them India has the highest bribery rate of 69%, said a survey released by anti-graft Transparency International (TI) on Tuesday.

India was closely followed by Vietnam (65%). Thailand (41%), Cambodia, Pakistan and Myanmar, each with 40%, were next. The rate was much lower in China (26%) and it was the lowest in Japan (0.2%).

The report also stressed that 41% people in India said that the level of corruption had increased in the last year.

China topped this list with 73% saying they perceived an increase in corruption. It was closely followed by Indonesia (65%), Malaysia (59%), Vietnam (56%), South Korea (50%) and Hong Kong (46 %). Interestingly, India’s neighbours like Pakistan (35%), Sri Lanka (21%) and Myanmar (22%) ranked lower in the list

Our Role

  1. To aware people about their rights and educate them about the necessary procedure of actions they should take against the culprit, after being the victim of it, and different actions to prevent it.
  2. Help the victim in legal procedure against the crime by assisting him to help in lodging complain, in case of illiteracy, to appropriate authority such as CBI-Anti corruption Bureau (for corruption cases against Government or its employee), Police commisionerate (for offensive crimes), Public Information officer (in case of knowing the reason of delay in government activities) etc….
  3. The protest against the social crimes and injustice by performing rallies, public-speaking, protest March etc. because “When injustice becomes Law, Rebellion becomes duty”
  4. To Encourage Women Empowerment, awareness program would be conducted on some time intervals, to educate females about their deserving legal rights in the constitution.
  5. Provide assistance and facilities to the females of economically weaker section of the society.
  6. Increase the literacy rate of women by providing them the benefits through different Government Programs of which they are not aware of.
  7. Devote Energy, time and dedication in charity to serve the Humanity in any form or activity around the globe.
